Her Story: Ann Hutchins, extraordinary mother of 9 and devoted wife to Paul Hutchins, died in Bonita Springs, Florida, on January 25, 2024, at the age of 83 years.
Ann is survived by her beloved husband Paul, siblings George, Peter, Mary, Rosella, and one deceased brother John. Her surviving children are Elizabeth, Michael, Peter, Matthew, Mark, Ann Marie, Timothy, Kate and Molly, and their spouses David, Lauren, Sharon, Vicki, Keith, Mark, Sayaka and Marcus. Grandchildren: Caroline, Hunter, Nicholas, Charlie, Jack, Chelsi, Alex, Suzy, Danny, Allison, Ashton and Graham. Great grandchildren Emilio, Kila Bee, and Carmella. Ann organized our large, crazy fun family gatherings twice a year.
Ann and Paul are Catholic and instilled their strong faith into their family. They were married in October 1959 and cherished their 65 years together. They were a team raising 9 children into successful adults, Ann's most prized legacy.
While she finished the upbringing of her youngest 3 children, Ann pursued her dream of attending college, and graduated Ohio State University with a BA in English in May 1997. Ann had many talents that blossomed after her children went on their own. She pursued new culinary adventures beyond quantity cooking. She learned to play piano. Ann was also a volunteer tutor for immigrant school children in Florida. She was most proud and committed to her artistic talent as a sketcher, painter and sculptor. She showed and sold pieces in Florida, and donated many to charity auctions. Family and friends are fortunate to have her pieces displayed in their homes.
Together Ann and Paul made the most of their retirement years. First, they formed their own company building custom homes. They traveled the world. They played tennis and golf. They made a second home in Florida, with a new community of special friends, and had the time of their lives.
In her final years Ann lived with frontotemporal dementia with grace and perseverance. FTD is different from Alzheimer's. While her personality changed, through it all she was remarkably content, fun and memorable. We are grateful that she knew who everyone was until the end. Paul and Ann's strong love while battling FTD together, demonstrated to us all the true meaning of hope, faith and love. Her memory and gifts will live on in us until we join her in heaven.
